Healed” isn’t a destination. And that’s actually good news

I’ve spent years working on myself. Therapy. Reading. Journaling. All of it.
And I’m still not “healed.”

Thankfully.

Because here’s what I’ve realized: “Healed” isn’t a human state. It’s a role.

It’s a position you have to maintain. An ideal you have to perform.
Once “healed” becomes your identity, other people’s perception of you starts to matter too much.

And then what happens when you mess up? When your humanness shows?
You hide. You avoid. You blame. You pretend.
Which is literally the opposite of what healing is supposed to be.

Healing isn’t a finish line you cross and then never struggle again.
That’s just another way to control how people see you, or how you want to see yourself.

Real healing is a relational practice.
With yourself. With other people.
It’s honesty. Openness. Compassion. The willingness to be messy and still show up.

The online space loves the idea of “fixing” yourself, “optimizing” yourself, “healing” yourself like there’s an end game where you finally graduate from being human.
But that mindset makes people shrink and hide when things go wrong.
It turns growth into a performance. It makes you feel either “less than” or “above others.”

I’m over that.
I’d rather show up messy than perform vulnerability.
I’d rather be honest than polished.

Growth isn’t about becoming perfect. It’s about building a relationship with yourself that can hold who you’ve been and who you’re becoming without shame.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re “behind” because you’re still struggling, or like you’ve failed because you had a setback… you haven’t.
That’s just being human.

So here’s my question for you:
Where are you still trying to “perform” healing instead of actually practicing it?

Note: I’m not a therapist. Just someone who’s been in the trenches of growth and wants to humanize the process instead of romanticizing it.
