Being Kind to Myself

For me it is very easy to criticize myself. But it always leads me into difficulties, not only with myself but also with others. What I think about myself affects how I relate to others. It influences how I think others perceive me. Often my thoughts questions that why would anybody like me, I don´t deserve that.

My friend once told me:

Look in the mirror and love the person looking back at you. She don't deserve your judgment. Look at yourself until you see love in your eyes toward yourself. You may see a distant, cold, or mocking stare at firs, but you don't deserve that. You deserve to see your own eyes looking at you with love.

I often find myself in situations where I don't feel what I want to feel or do the things I want to do. And that's when I need my own love. I need to hear myself say, "Everything is fine. You are good enough just as you are, right here, right now. You deserve to rest." You deserve to experience your disappointment that you weren't what you thought you were.

When you are at your weakest, you need your own love the most. You need your love when you notice a mistake or a flaw, when you are sad or tired, or when dreams seem still far away.

The longings of the heart are never in conflict with life and love. Sometimes, I think I´m not enough and I´m missing something, but in reality I don´t really actually miss anything, and that's when my heart stops me. It can say, "not this," or "not yet." When I know how to be kind to myself, I am kind to everyone else because through it, I learn what it means to "be good." It's not grand gestures or actions. It's not flashy things. It's looking into my own and others eyes in a way that says, "You are good enough. You are sufficient." Goodness is quiet. Its best signature is that it feels good. It's enough because it's the only true signature of goodness.

Look in the mirror and love the person looking back at you. You deserve to see your own eyes looking at you with love. <3
