I did 30 days of emotional independence and here's what I got

https://ift.tt/WSCJzT1

For context, Im F28 and spent most of my early adulthood in long-term romantic partnerships. I was curious how I could improve on self-love hence why I wanted to start with being emotionally independent. I logged entries in my journal for the past month or so. I started this in August and just finished the 30th entry today. I re-read them and here's how the days went:

  1. It will be literal slopes. Unpredictable highs and lows.
  2. It will feel weird but just feel it all you want because you can.
  3. It will be confusing, be confused all you want.
  4. You'll start feeling excited and hopeful.
  5. Then you won't and that's okay.
  6. You'll randomly get hit by waves of awareness and actually being present.
  7. You'll start being thankful for stillness.
  8. You'll constantly have questions. Like a list of them.
  9. You will start feeling a bit lost in your current dynamics.
  10. You'll feel lonely and would just want to cave into the idea of companionship.
  11. You start learning to acknowledge your feelings rather than just bottling them up for a later time.
  12. You'll learn to appreciate the act of being stagnant no matter how much you hate it.
  13. Yes, you can be happy and sad at the same time.
  14. You'll be okay with just floating on calm waters.
  15. You learn to embrace all sorts of feelings or emotions.
  16. You learn to be more grateful even for the simplest things.
  17. You'll start being more aware of the beauty around you.
  18. You'd want to rip the band-aid off of old wounds. (I hold resentment toward a lot of people and just felt like I've been carrying those dead weights for a while so I wrote people forgiveness letters.)
  19. You'll feel a whole lotta lighter.
  20. You'll start feeling content. You don't seek as many highs as you used to.
  21. You will wonder a lot. A lot of questions you sometimes can answer but some will be left unanswered.
  22. Mundane is OKAY.
  23. Every day and everyone will be passing and you'll choose to float rather than swim through the waves.
  24. You start allowing yourself to freely traverse the sea of life.
  25. You become more aware of the things you want.
  26. You will be reminded of such wonderful things you can give yourself.
  27. You learn that you don't only foster deep, nurturing connections with others but also yourself.
  28. You wouldn't wanna settle with anything less than what you can give yourself.
  29. You'll feel more optimistic in your daily life and find that there's beauty even in the least attractive things.
  30. Taking your time to live life in solitude at least once can be very rewarding and can be one of the greater gifts you can give yourself. The best part is you didn't need anyone's involvement in it. You function just as fine without other people's validation.
