This weekend gave me a wake up call that I definitely needed. In addition to always struggling with self-love (I was insecure from a very young age), I have also been on a recovery journey (alcohol) and am 15 months sober. Getting sober was my first huge act of self love, and sobriety has allowed me to start to love myself. However, I lost sight of what real self love was, and while yes I was very much addicted to alcohol and have zero business ever drinking it again (and have no plans to), that was just the tip of the iceberg. The hard part is getting to the root, and for me, anxiety, self doubt, zero self esteem and essentially not loving myself. I have not been loving myself well lately. While I haven’t drank, I have just been eating junk, binging mindless tv in my free time, letting my adhd run rampant which just causes me to create clutter and most of all, continuing a toxic on and off relationship with a guy who also has no business drinking, but still does. Long story short, it hit me that I still have a lot of work to do on loving myself WELL. This led me to whip out a book I bought months ago and hadn’t touched yet (another bad habit), and get to work. I am not done with it, and I am going to take my time with it, bc I truly want to love myself and in turn love others and be the best version of myself BUT I had to come on here and recommend it! It’s already done a great job of helping me realize what self love is NOT. I’m sure many have heard of it, but if not, I wanted to pass it along! Everybody deserves to know their self worth and experience love.
